Spare time with kids? No doubt Copenhagen is a family friendly city, but not all the fun is in the center. Outside areas have a lot to offer, here are some ideas:
Spend the day at Frilandsmuseum
Frilandsmuseet an open-air museum located in Lyngby, ideal for long walks accompanied by lots of history. The museum features more than 100 buildings from rural environments dating between XVII and XX century. All houses are original and have been moved piece by piece from their original location. The entrance fee is 50 kr. por one adult and one child and it is possible to take a tour in a horse carriage for only 30 kr. per person.

Go hunting the Forgotten Giants
The Danish designer Thomas Dambo created six “Forgotten Giants”; wooden sculptures produced from scrap wood collected from old, demolished buildings and felled trees, named after one of the artist’s former assistants. Deliberately placed around Copenhagen suburbs, this is an adventure to explore beautiful neighborhoods and green areas people don’t normally go.
Experience crabbing at Rungsted Havn
Rungsted Harbor is packed with restaurants and activities. On the side of their sitting area, Fiskerikajen (Fish Shop and Restaurant) installed a net were the kids can practice crab catching and later return them to the water through a “crab bridge”. Nets, fishing rod and baits can be purchased from the shop and children can borrow a bucket to keep their catch.
